Amy Finch isn’t very good at her job and it’s about to get her killed. She’s on the run from her evil boss, time cops, and even chrono-terrorists.
Yeah– really.  Time Travel kinda sucks like that. This is might be how the world ends.

Channel 757 Presents: Project Hot Potato, the Hottest Ticket in Hampton Roads!

Whatever you have planned for this weekend, cancel it! Unless you are going to be coming out to the Virginia Beach Central Library at 3PM that is! Because Hampton Roads is about to be rocked by an incredible creative event Project Hot Potato!

What is this deliciously sounding event? Will there be real butter or margarine? Well bunky, consider this your PHP Primer!

If all that was all TL;DR, we’ll break it down as thus, the project is a 4 part feature film comprised of 4 different film making teams, none of which are in contact with the other! After the screening, some of these amazing creative geniuses will be awarded prizes, you can check out the nominees here, see the stars of tomorrow… TODAY!

If you want to learn more about the 4 teams supreme check out this handy breakdown of who’s who and what’s what! Of course it’s not all lavish awards and touchy feely moments, (Mostly from Matt Wade, after a few wine coolers he gets a little “Bill Cosby”.) The Great Hot Potato Roast will lovingly poke fun at those poor brave souls that left it all on the line to bring you an incredible film brought to you by the comedy stylings of:

Quincy Carr,
John Small,
Chop Allen,
George Booker
Filmmaker and Project Hot Potato Vet, Jessa Gaul

Whether you laugh with them or at them, it’s sure to add to an already rollicking adventure, but as they say, (I still want to know who “they” are) “Wait, There’s more!”

Project Hot Potato 2015 Most Valuable Actor | The Nominees

Another year and all of the teams have turned in their contributions to Project Hot Potato.

PHP quick shotEach year, four Hampton Roads filmmakers are tasked with producing four different segments of the same movie. One of the hurdles that is placed in their way is a simple rule that states that “no member of the crew or cast can appear on more than one team.”  This leads to filmmakers either being lucky to run with their usual team or putting them in a position where they need to reach out an collaborate with creatives that they might not have previously.

On Saturday, April 25th– we will crown a winner for Project Hot Potato 2015, but there will also be another award winner:  Project Hot Potato’s Most Valuable Actor.

And the nominees are…

Michael Beckner Jr. | Friendly RunawaysMichael Beckner Jr.
Michael has earned an MVA nomination his first year with Project Hot Potato as a member of the Friendly Runaways.

Williams H. Powers | BrainCo ProductionsBill Powers
Not a stranger to PHP as the director of last year’s Critic’s Award winning submission, William Powers is up for his first MVA nomination.

One Potato, Two Potato… | Project Hot Potato 2015 Teams- Friendly Runaways

Project Hot Potato 2015 is set to begin in January so we think we’ve waited long enough…. Let’s meet the teams. What is Project Hot Potato?

Beautiful as she is deadly, Desiree Connell leads a pack of Friendly Runaways…  The gun is for their protection– obviously.

While a frequent collaborator at Digital Thunderdome and having worked with JPixx, Channel 757 is still somewhat unsure what to expect from this team leader though we’ve been assured that “it will be awesome.”

Desiree looks to take the reigns during Project Week 2 and runaway with the PHP Award once the competition is over.

Project Hot Potato 2015 is set to begin in January so we think we’ve waited long enough…. Let’s meet the teams. What is Project Hot Potato?

“I swear it was on fire when I got here.”                                                                                                               -Matt Wade

Matt Wade, Team Leader of Cocaine Beard (Yeah…) began his career like most young comedians do: nude Jell-O wrestling with Bill Cosby.  Leaving his gelatin covered days behind him, he grew as an artist in leaps and bounds.

Wade soon became the award winning creator of the acclaimed Channel 757 web series – ISSUES, as well as competing in annual film competitions, and producing one of the funniest podcasts on the web, Matt and Nathan Have Issues.

Cocaine Beard’s team is likely to include his long time creative partner, Nathan Emilio and we’re sure they’re excited to wrap up the story this year with Project Week 4.

One Potato, Two Potato… | Project Hot Potato 2015 Teams – Misfits

His team? Strong, determined and proven.  The Misfits are ready to leave their mark on Project Hot Potato during Project Week 1.

One Potato, Two Potato… | Project Hot Potato 2015 Teams – BrainCo Productions

BrainCo is a visionary team in Virginia’s independent film industry, with multiple award wins at the 48hr Film Festival, as well as other festivals across the state.  Lead by their team leader, the yet to be photographed James Shearer,  the production team pushes the boundaries every time they leave the gate. Project Hot Potato 2015 will be no exception.
