This Weekend’s Norfolk Events That You Need To Check Out

Whats happening this weekend? A lot of comedy.  Virginia isn’t only for lovers in Norfolk as there are two great comedy events this weekend alone that YOU should make time for.

comedy smackdownFirst- Tomorrow night February 20th, THE SECRET LEAGUE OF PODCASTERS presents COMEDY SMACKDOWN in Norfolk at FM Restaurant on Granby St (directly behind the NorVA for the uninitiated). 12 vicious comics of Hampton Road go head to head with uncensored jokes & insults to take home the championship belt and cash prizes. Then, after the show, we hand the stage over to local band Non-Violent Crimes to rock out the rest of the evening! Tickets $10, showtime 9PM. A portion of the door will go to benefit the Navy Seal Foundation.

THEN Saturday night, February 21st, at The NorVA itself, Norfolk’s  premier comedy team– THE PUSHERS return with their annual all female comedy show, PANTIES IN A TWIST! Panties In A Twist is a sketch comedy show written by women… starring women… and brought to you on Norfolk’s biggest stage. With all these funny women in one place, this is guaranteed to be a huge event!!!  Show starts at 8pm and tickets are $15 in advance, $17 Night of the show.

One Potato, Two Potato… | Project Hot Potato 2015 Teams – BrainCo Productions


Project Hot Potato 2015 is set to begin in January so we think we’ve waited long enough…. Let’s meet the teams. What is Project Hot Potato?

The first ever returning team, Project Hot Potato is proud to welcome back last year’s Critic’s Award winner BrainCo Productions!

BrainCo is a visionary team in Virginia’s independent film industry, with multiple award wins at the 48hr Film Festival, as well as other festivals across the state.  Lead by their team leader, the yet to be photographed James Shearer,  the production team pushes the boundaries every time they leave the gate. Project Hot Potato 2015 will be no exception.

BrainCo. Productions will compete during Project Week 3.

We air a new segment: Reactions, and we look at reactions to star wars and Jurassic World trailers. Of course we reviewed some movies. We saw the Penguins of Madagascar, The Theory of Everything, and Horrible Bosses 2, From home releases we talk about Maleficent and 22 Jump Street. This week we are sans guest of any normal sort. We are however joined by the lovely Brooke who’s done many of the ZMS After Dark Episodes with us. We preview the new format for you all as we move into “Season 3” of ZMS. More on that in the episode. We talk about movies and movie news today. We are blown away with a few big trailers firstly “Jurassic World”, “Pan”, and the tease about the new J.K. Rollings film that is written by the best selling author herself! 2015 is already looking to be an exciting year and it hasn’t even started. We give a nice review on the latest Hunger Games “Mocking Jay part 1” and find Mr. Podcast has beef with Peeta.
